2 hit-&-runs in 24 hours, two per­sons killed

Mumbai: Two peo­ple lost their lives in sep­a­rate hit-and-run mishaps in a span of 24 hours.

In the first in­ci­dent, a 25-year-old man, Anilku­mar Verma, sleep­ing on the pave­ment in Malad (E) was run over. An un­known ve­hi­cle ran over Verma be­tween 2am and 3.40am on Fri­day. Af­ter the Din­doshi po­lice was in­formed, Verma was rushed to a hos­pi­tal where doc­tors pro­nounced him dead. Verma’s brother, Akhilesh Ku­mar, later reg­is­tered a po­lice com­plaint. The Din­doshi po­lice are scru­ti­n­is­ing CCTV footage to iden­tify the killer ve­hi­cle.

In the sec­ond in­ci­dent, a biker was knocked down by a ve­hi­cle on the Jo­gesh­wari-Vikhroli Link Road near IIT in Powai on Fri­day evening. San­jay Mayekar (43) taken to a hos­pi­tal but was pro­nounced dead.
