Judges should fast-track cases where un­der­tri­als are in jails: Jus­tice Patil

T he act­ing Chief Jus­tice of the Bom­bay HC, Naresh Patil, on Satur­day said prin­ci­pal dis­trict and ses­sions jud- ges should draw a plan to fast-track crim­i­nal cases in­volv­ing un­der­tri­als in jails, con­sid­er­ing the pen­dency of such ca- ses. “The courts should con­clude tri­als in a time-bound man­ner, from three to five days... The courts are tak­ing six months or more,” he said at an event in Pune. Jus­tice Patil will take oath as the Chief Jus­tice of the HC on Mon­day.
