Activists protest mob lynching, fake encounters

The Times of India (Mumbai edition) - - TIMES CITY -

Mumbai: As part of the #EqualCitizens campaign, several activists gathered at Azad Maidan on Saturday to observe “Resistance Day” to protest mob lynching, killings in the name of love jihad, fake encounters, disappearance of names from voters list and other issues. They slammed the government’s alleged “double standards” in treatment of victims of fake encounters and that mob lynchings had shaken people’s faith in the government’s commitment to uphold the policy of equality enshrined in our Constitution.

“Citizens groups are marking Saturday as Resistance Day in around 50 cities across the country. It is to resist the killings in the name of cow protection, love jihad, and encounters aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear among the minorities,” said activist Firoz Mithiborewala.
