16.4% voting in round 3 of J&K civic polls
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) recorded overall 16.4% polling in the third phase of municipal elections on Saturday, chief electoral officer (CEO) Shaleen Kabra said. In this phase, polls were conduct in four districts of the state — Anantnag, Baramulla, Srinagar and Samba.
According to the CEO, Jammu division witnessed 81.4% polling in four urban local bodies (ULBs) of district Samba. In this division, the highest polling percentage of 85.73 was recorded in Bari Brahamana ULB, the CEO said, adding that Kashmir division witnessed on average 3.5% polling with municipal committee Uri recording the highest of 75.3% voting. The lowest poll percentage of 1.8% was recorded in Srinagar.
The CEO said the cumulative poll percentage in all the three phases to date is 41.9% with 68.4% voting recorded in Jammu division and 6.7% in Kashmir division. The final phase of the municipal polls is scheduled to be held on October 16.
