16.4% vot­ing in round 3 of J&K civic polls

Srinagar: Jammu and Kash­mir (J&K) recorded over­all 16.4% polling in the third phase of mu­nic­i­pal elec­tions on Satur­day, chief elec­toral of­fi­cer (CEO) Shaleen Kabra said. In this phase, polls were con­duct in four districts of the state — Anant­nag, Bara­mulla, Srinagar and Samba.

Ac­cord­ing to the CEO, Jammu di­vi­sion wit­nessed 81.4% polling in four ur­ban lo­cal bod­ies (ULBs) of dis­trict Samba. In this di­vi­sion, the high­est polling per­cent­age of 85.73 was recorded in Bari Bra­hamana ULB, the CEO said, adding that Kash­mir di­vi­sion wit­nessed on av­er­age 3.5% polling with mu­nic­i­pal com­mit­tee Uri record­ing the high­est of 75.3% vot­ing. The low­est poll per­cent­age of 1.8% was recorded in Srinagar.

The CEO said the cu­mu­la­tive poll per­cent­age in all the three phases to date is 41.9% with 68.4% vot­ing recorded in Jammu di­vi­sion and 6.7% in Kash­mir di­vi­sion. The fi­nal phase of the mu­nic­i­pal polls is sched­uled to be held on Oc­to­ber 16.
