Hit-and-run incidents kill two women
Navi Mumbai: A woman riding pillion on a motorcycle that her husband was riding to their hometown for Diwali died in a hit-and-run incident on the Thane-Belapur road recently while another was found dead in a suspected hitand-run case under the Adai village bridge on the MumbaiPune Expressway on Friday.
In the first incident, Arpita Jadhav (24) lost her life when the motorcycle her husband was riding was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday.
The Turbhe MIDC police station registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver of an unidentified vehicle.
Arpita had suffered severe head injuries, her husband, Aniket (28), was saved as he was wearing a helmet. He sustained severe injuries elsewhere as the bike skid for about 20 metres, said sub-inspector Sudhir Tengale.
The other deceased woman remained unidentified, and the police said she appeared to be aged between 40 and 50 years. The body was found around 10.45 pm. The Khandeshwar police station registered a case of rash and negligent driving and causing death against an unknown vehicle driver. Constable Prashant Bagul lodged the complaint after he found the body at the spot after he was informed about it on the wireless.
