Cops: On track to crack case of train mur­der

Mum­bai: Mum­bai Cen­tral rail­way po­lice, prob­ing the mur­der of a Gu­jarat home­maker, said they have got a lead that will help them crack the case soon. Deriya Chaud­hary (40), who lived in Su­rat with her hus­band, was headed to Mum­bai to visit her sis­ter and brother, when she was found with her throat slit in the ladies coach, and her gold chain and Rs30,000 was stolen.

The woman’s hus­band ar­rived here late on Fri­day. He, along with her brother-in-law Ramesh Chaud­hary, left for Su­rat to con­duct the fi­nal rites. DCP (rail­ways) Pu­rushot­tam Karad said they have some clues and the ac­cused will be ar­rested soon. They are scan­ning CCTV footage too.

“The in­ci­dent could have oc­curred af­ter Borivli as the train may have got empty be­fore it headed to Dadar. The train did not stop in-be­tween,” said Karad.
