Cops: On track to crack case of train murder
Mumbai: Mumbai Central railway police, probing the murder of a Gujarat homemaker, said they have got a lead that will help them crack the case soon. Deriya Chaudhary (40), who lived in Surat with her husband, was headed to Mumbai to visit her sister and brother, when she was found with her throat slit in the ladies coach, and her gold chain and Rs30,000 was stolen.
The woman’s husband arrived here late on Friday. He, along with her brother-in-law Ramesh Chaudhary, left for Surat to conduct the final rites. DCP (railways) Purushottam Karad said they have some clues and the accused will be arrested soon. They are scanning CCTV footage too.
“The incident could have occurred after Borivli as the train may have got empty before it headed to Dadar. The train did not stop in-between,” said Karad.
