Cen­tre mulls pre-poll sops to woo traders and ex­porters

New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and close on the heels of an­nounc­ing 10% quota for the eco­nom­i­cally weak and dou­bling the GST ex­emp­tion limit for small traders, the Cen­tre is look­ing at a set of in­cen­tives for traders, such as ki­rana store own­ers, whole­salers, and ex­porters to ad­dress con­cerns of busi­ness get­ting im­pacted due to the launch of goods and ser­vices tax and de­mon­eti­sa­tion.

Sources told TOI the Cen­tre is con­sid­er­ing in­surance cover, cash-backs for dig­i­tal pay­ments and sub­si­dies and fi­nance for buy­ing com­put­ers and digi­ti­sa­tion of busi­nesses as it seeks to woo a key seg­ment of its vote bank ahead of the elec­tions.
