Admissions for RTE seats from Feb 25
Mumbai: The education department has rolled out the online admission process for the 25% seats reserved under the Right to Education Act at unaided non-minority schools in the state for the next academic year. Online applications can be given from February 25.
In Mumbai, the municipal corporation which implements admissions in the city is currently accepting registrations from schools. According to a circular issued by the primary school directorate, schools can register up to February 22. The website will begin accepting applications from parents on February 25. The deadline to submit online applications is March 11.
“Details on how to apply, documents required and the process will be uploaded on the website soon and advertised through help centres,” said an official.
Once applications are verified, the first lottery will be on March 14. Students will be allotted schools and will have to submit original documents to confirm admissions.
Last year, five admission rounds were held for more than 8,000 seats. About 3,500 of 10,000 applicants got admission. While activists blamed the civic body, the civic body said it was demand-supply mismatch with 72 schools receiving zero applications.
