Hel­met­less biker held for hit­ting con­sta­ble

Aal­legedly mo­tor­cy­clist who was

not wear­ing a hel­met was ar­rested for knock­ing down a con­sta­ble and try­ing to flee at Carter Road in Ban­dra on Sun­day. Con­sta­ble Prahlad Ja­madar, at­tached to Khar po­lice sta­tion, had stopped Ab­dul Shaikh (20) dur­ing a naka­bandi to nab hel­met­less bik­ers. In­stead of stop­ping, Shaikh rammed into Ja­madar and tried to flee. Shaikh was re­leased on bail later.

Fol­low­ing marathon meet­ings with his party MLAs and MPs at Matoshree, Shiv Sena pres­i­dent Ud­dhav Thack­eray was sup­posed to kick-start his pub­lic ral­lies from Pa­chora in Jal­gaon dis­trict in north Ma­ha­rash­tra. How­ever, he has post­poned the rally for rea­sons not known, said a party func­tionary.
