Kerala woman booked for ‘raping’ 9-year-old nephew
Malappuram: Police have booked a 36-year-old woman for allegedly raping her nineyear-old nephew in Malappuram district’s Thenhippalam area for the past one year.
The crime came to light after the boy revealed it to a doctor, who in turn, alerted childline authorities. Childline officials recorded his statement and forwarded a complaint to police. Cops have booked the woman under Sections 5 and 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Pocso Act.
“The prolonged sexual assault has affected his mental health,” said Childline (Malappuram) coordinator Anwar Karakkadan.
Thenhippalam SI Binu Thomas said the case was filed based on the statement given to Childline authorities, and more details can be revealed later. “We have learnt that there was a dispute between the family of the survivor and accused. We have to check whether the allegation is linked to the dispute,” he said.
