Sen & Malvika lead AAI to fi­nal

Guwahati: Two of the coun­try’s fastest ris­ing shut­tlers — Lak­shya Sen and Malvika Ban­sod — pro­duced scin­til­lat­ing per­for­mances to guide Air­port Author­ity of In­dia (AAI) to the fi­nal of the 74th In­ter-State Bad­minton Cham­pi­onship at Tarun Ram Phookan In­door Sta­dium in Guwahati on Sun­day.

In the sum­mit clash on Mon­day, AAI will take on Rail­ways, who edged past hosts As­sam 3-1 in the sec­ond semi­fi­nal.

Teenage sen­sa­tions Lak­shya and Malvika won their re­spec­tive sin­gles as AAI steam­rolled Andhra Pradesh 3-0 in the semis.

South­paw Malvika showed lot of char­ac­ter in shock­ing her higher ranked and more ex­pe­ri­enced ri­val Sai Ut­te­jitha Rao in an ex­cit­ing three­game en­counter 13-21, 2114, 21-15 in 50 min­utes.
