‘Shades of Rafa’ in Moutet’s win
Chennai: Right through the past week of the Chennai Open Challenger, France’s Corentin Moutet has displayed an air of reticence and tried to keep his distance from the media. While there was bound to be curiosity surrounding the 19-year-old after he had a training stint with Roger Federer in Dubai in December in the lead-up to the new season, his coach Emmanuel Planque in particular has largely been insistent that his ward be left alone.
Even after the final at the SDAT Tennis Stadium here on Sunday, which Moutet won 6-3, 6-3 against Australia’s Andrew Harris, Planque was a tad reluctant before allowing the 19-yearold to bask in the glory of his third Challenger title.
“I wanted to do the best I can on every point and get the better of him. It was a great week,” was all that Moutet said.
