Truck rentals up by 11-12% in September

The Times of India (New Delhi edition) - - TIMES NATION -

New Delhi: Truck rental on trunk routes went up by 1112% in September due to a rise in cargo dispatches to beat the deadline for rollout of e-way bills to track movement of goods for GST, the peak festive season and hike in fuel prices, according to a think-tank.

Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training, which tracks truck rentals on trunk routes including DelhiMumbai, Delhi-Hyderabad, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Ranchi and Delhi-Bilaspur, said there was a 50% increase in cargo dispatches on the routes. It said this was primarily to beat the approaching deadline of e-way bill transit pass system, which will kick off after a go-ahead from the GST Council later this month.
