New Delhi: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal on Thursday lashed out at LG Anil Baijal, accusing him of orchestrating the “strike” by the bureaucrats on directions from the top. That was also an indirect attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sunita Kejriwal’s strong words came after she along with her mother-in-law and the wives of deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were not allowed to meet their spouses. “Even prisoners are allowed to meet their family members. We were ready for being frisked and waited for long and even assured that we will not join the dharna, but we were not allowed to meet. Why is LG so insecure? It was immature of him not to allow the family members in,” she said.

The LG was not in office for the third day. Sources in the LG office said Baijal was working from home and even held a pollution meeting there on Thursday. With no response coming from him for the fourth day, Kejriwal tweeted his anger and even doubted the intention of LG.

Kejriwal also wrote to Modi, seeking his interven- ALL-OUT ATTACK: tion to end the deadlock. He pointed out instances when important work was halted due to officers not attending meetings. “With folded hands, the people of Delhi and Delhi government request you to get the strike called off immediately so that works can resume,” Kejriwal said in his letter.

His wife also demanded the PM’s intervention. “The directions to cripple the work of the AAP government are coming from the top because the LG cannot do it on his own,” Sunita said.

She also hit out at the BJP leaders for holding a dharna at CM’s office. “They are doing a foolish act. It is immature of them to do that. CM is not doing it for himself but for the people of Delhi. People will respond to it,” she said.

Countering BJP’s Vijender Gupta’s charge that her husband was doing a drama, Sunita said “it is not easy to spend such a long time in a single room while being troubled by rats and pests”.

Kejriwal also reacted to a huge banner being put out on the Secretariat by BJP MLAs. “BJP has captured the secretariat. Absolutely shocking. How was it allowed? Who allowed this to happen? Where was police, security, bureaucracy?” he tweeted.

A health check-up was also done on Sisodia and Jain, who are on indefinite fast. Sources said Jain’s health has been deteriorating.
