AAP seeks time with President, Rajnath

The Times of India (New Delhi edition) - - TIMES CITY | LG VS AAP -

New Delhi: The dharna outside LG’s office by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues entered the fourth day on Thursday even as the LG continued to maintain silence on it.

AAP wondered how the LG couldn’t find even four minutes even after four days to talk to the CM and his ministers. In the evening, nearly all MLAs of the party and others held a protest at Raj Ghat where they also prayed for “good sense to prevail on LG”. AAP plans to stay on this course of action until Sunday when the dharna would shift to Prime Minister’s Office.

In the morning, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh asked if the CM and his ministers had been put on house arrest as nobody was being allowed to meet them. Kejriwal’s mother, wife and brother, and the wives of deputy CM Manish Sisodia and health minister Satyendar Jain were not allowed to meet their agitating family members.

AAP has sought an appointment with President Ram Nath Kovind, Union home minister Rajnath Singh and LG to discuss the issue.

Meanwhile, even as most party members have drummed up support for the dharna, senior member Ashutosh has been silent. This has led to speculations that he isn’t “happy” with the party.

Ashutosh is quite active on Twitter where he frequently shares his opinions on various subjects. He was one of the frontrunners for the three Rajya Sabha seats earlier this year, but AAP preferred two outsiders and senior member Sanjay Singh.

He tweeted on Thursday that he was eating fish and shared pictures of it and the chef. He didn’t say a word about the dharna. When TOI asked him about his silence, he texted that he is on a personal visit to Europe since May 27. He then tweeted: “Reporters are sending messages if I am unhappy with AAP dharna. Absolutely not. More than 100% support for the dharna. People might gossip but reporters should stick to verifiable facts.”

In another tweet, he said he wanted to be left alone as he was with family.
