New Delhi: A medley of cultures and colours marked the first day of Extra Curricular Activities preliminary trial on Thursday at Mata Sundri College. From well-rehearsed performances to hastily-composed pieces, it was a long day for the judges who went through around 50 participants in 5 hours.

Thursday was the start of the centralised ECA preliminary trials, with classical and folk dance at Mata Sundri College and creative writing at Hansraj college.

For some aspirants, abrupt pauses in the performance became a cause of concern, after the judges questioned their choice of music. In the folk dance category, many students used popular punjabi music, despite guidelines against the use of “bollywood” songs.

However, a large number of students had surprisingly presented self-composed pieces.

Jesus and Mary College also held it dance trials on Thursday, which will continue till Friday.
