6 in­jured as stone-pel­ters tar­get CRPF con­voy over ru­mours

Jammu: At least six peo­ple, in­clud­ing a CRPF man were in­jured when a group of mis­cre­ants on Thurs­day at­tacked a CRPF con­voy amid ru­mours that a child had been killed, in Bani­hal tehsil of Ram­ban district, Jammu and Kash­mir.

SSP Ram­ban, Mo­han Lal said the at­tack took place af­ter a bus fer­ry­ing CRPF per­son­nel hit a car parked at a mar­ket. “The two sides had a heated al­ter­ca­tion. Mean­while some el­e­ments spread a rumour that a mi­nor girl died af­ter the bus hit the car, which cre­ated ten­sion and panic among the peo­ple in the area,” sources said.

Lal said a case has been reg­is­tered and the rumour mon­gers have been iden­ti­fied. Strict ac­tion will be taken against the ac­cused, he added.
