Cops live up to filmi stereotype
TIMES Ahmedabad: In an operation involving city cops, railway police, political pressure, and movement across two cities — Surat and Ahmedabad, a goat was seized at Surat railway station from a Mumbai-bound train, and then brought back to Ahmedabad, only to be found that it was the wrong goat, and not the one the police had been searching for.
Recently, a goat had been stolen from Asarwa area. Eyewitnesses said the goat was taken away by unidentified persons in a white Eeco car. Pradeep Parmar, the MLA from the area, said that the goat was big in size and the Patni family which owned it had been rearing it to sell during their son’s marriage.
“The goat was stolen, and I was informed. I talked to the police, but the family got a tip-off that the goat was being transported to Mumbai in the guard coach,” Parmar said.
The railway police was informed, and they seized the goat in Surat. The family then went to Surat and brought it back to city. “I made efforts to search for the goat, as the family was poor and the goat was priced at Rs 80,000,” Parmar said.
Madhuben Kesabhai, the owner of the stolen goat, said, “We brought the goat to Ahmedabad from Surat following
