Sixth sewer cleaning death within a week

Less than a week after five workers died inside a sewage tank, there was another tragic death as a 28-yearold man died while cleaning a DJB sewer pit in west Delhi’s Dabri on Friday evening, reports Pankhuri Ya
The victim, Anil, was given an old rope by the accused, Satbir Kala, and was asked to enter the sewer without any safety gear despite repeated warnings by another person, Ramesh, who was asked to help him.
Kala, who had called Anil to clean the sewer, had a panic attack after he saw him dead and was arrested after being discharged from hospital on Sunday evening. A DJB spokesperson said the work being carried out was unauthorised. P2
