In panic, abductors throw screaming woman off car
New Delhi: This tale has conspiracy theories written all over it. A 28-year-old woman was abducted in a white Maruti Swift Dzire from outside a private school in Sector 16 of Dwarka on Friday evening. Even as police reached the crime spot to chase the abductors, the woman was thrown out of the moving car as she continued to shout for help.
Hours later, when the kidnappers, identified as Sabal Kumar Singh (34) and Ikramuddeen (25), were arrested from Dadsia village in Faridabad, the entire incident began to unfold.
The woman, who lives in a housing society in Dwarka, was contacted on phone by Singh about two weeks ago in which he introduced himself as the customer care representative of her mobile network company and offered her a better talktime plan.
When Singh started flirting with her, she disconnec- ted the call. However, he didn’t give up and intensified his pursuit. Sitting in his house in Faridabad, he started calling her from multiple numbers and sexting her on WhatsApp. He kept insisting that she meet him.
When the woman’s attempts to stop Singh failed, she shared her ordeal with her husband. The couple then hatched a plan with a friend to call the harasser to Dwarka and nab him.
The next time Singh called, the woman asked him to come to Dwarka in the evening. Singh picked up his father’s Swift Dzire and asked his friend, Ikramuddeen, to join him in his quest. After dropping a woman from their village in south Delhi, the two drove towards Dwarka.
Meanwhile, the woman came to the designated meeting point with her husband on a scooty with their friend closely followed them in his WagonR. Their plan went awry as Singh quickly pulled the woman inside his vehicle and drove away. The shocked husband started following the car even as the woman continued to shout for help. The abductors panicked and ultimately slowed down the car and threw her out before speeding away.
The victim’s husband, in the meantime, informed the PCR and a unit soon reached the spot. DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that a team under the supervision of ACP (Dwarka) Rajender Singh jotted down the details from the couple and started the investigation.
They were provided the phone numbers used by Singh and a part of the numberplate of the car (HR 51 XX XX63). A team went to Dadsia village at night and zeroed in on the accused using the voters’ list and arrested them. It was found that Singh, who provides tractors on hire, had been harassing several women using this tactic. His mobile phones are being scanned for more details.
