Rail line through Maha tiger re­serve stirs hor­nets’ nest

➶ Golden Quadri­lat­eral Freight Cor­ri­dor (GQFC) rail tracks link 4 largest met­ros — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata (2,173km), and East-West Kolkata-Mumbai (2,000km). Both were ap­proved in 2018 ➶ 77km Ka­tol-Wardha new line is part of north-south DFC ➶ Once in­cluded in Bud­get, it will need Niti Aayog ap­proval ➶ Line will need land ac­qui­si­tion and per­mis­sions from state and na­tional boards for wildlife, as it passes through Bor Tiger Re­serve and its buf­fer area
