KCR altering electoral rolls, alleges Cong
New Delhi: Congress on Sunday accused the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana government of trying to vitiate the assembly polls by interfering with the process through which discrepancies and inaccuracies in the electoral rolls would have been corrected.
Demanding that the Election Commission intervene to verify and sanitise voter lists, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said a preliminary examination suggested that the problem of duplicates, deleted voters and disqualified voters was far more acute in Telangana than imagined. “Close to 70 lakh voters are found to be falling in these three categories,” Singhvi said.
“Rao rushed to announce the dates for Telangana assembly polls and chose to ignore the numerous discrepancies in the voter list which erode the integrity of the polls, whenever they are conducted,” he said.
