Hy­der­abad: At least 29 of 119 re­turn­ing of­fi­cers, in­clud­ing few IAS and IFoS of­fi­cials of rev­enue divi­sional of­fi­cer rank and above ap­pointed for each assem­bly con­stituency, have to re­take the elec­tion duty exam as they failed to se­cure above 80% marks. Also, 90 as­sis­tant re­turn­ing of­fi­cers of 251 in Te­lan­gana have to re­write the test as they scored less than 80% — the bench­mark.

Te­lan­gana chief elec­toral of­fi­cer Ra­jat Ku­mar said, “We com­pleted train­ing for ROs and AROs for all 119 assem­bly con­stituen­cies in Te­lan­gana. At least one-third ROs and AROs have to re­peat. We are strin­gent in our cer­ti­fi­ca­tion. Elec­tion au­thor­i­ties con­ducted train­ing for elec­tions and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion ex­am­i­na­tion in Hy­der­abad for all of­fi­cers across the state be­tween Oc­to­ber 24 and Oc­to­ber 27 at Te­lan- Of 15 re­turn­ing of­fi­cers above RDO rank, only two failed to clear the exam while one was ab­sent. An­other RO joined later for train­ing. Two IAS of­fi­cials work­ing as ROs in Hy­der­abad were cer­ti­fied by clear­ing the exam. Hy­der­abad: Te­lan­gana Chief Elec­toral Of­fi­cer Ra­jat Ku­mar said on Fri­day that the bal­lot pa­per would re­main pink in colour for the Te­lan­gana leg­isla­tive assem­bly polls as per the Act. The CEO had sought clar­i­fi­ca­tion from the Elec­tion Com­mis­sion fol­low­ing a com­plaint from Con­gress which said that the pink bal­lot pa­per can in­flu­ence the voter to vote for TRS as the colour of the flag of the party is pink.

“The ECI said as polls are be­ing con­ducted only for Te­lan­gana leg­isla­tive assem­bly, the voter slip will be white and bal­lot pa­per(on EVM) will be pink as per the pro­vi­sions of the Rep­re­sen­ta­tion of the Peo­ple’s Act,” Ra­jat said .
