New Delhi: Weeks after a Delhi University student got a man arrested for flashing and masturbating in front of her in a cluster bus near southwest Delhi’s Kapashera, another woman had a similar experience in a DTC bus when her co-passenger resorted to a similar shameless act on Friday night.

The 22-year-old woman made the PCR call from the DTC bus on route 543 while she was returning to her house in Vasant Kunj. Cops said that the bus was crowded and a 45-year-old man, identified as Kishandutt Pandey, was seated next to her.

DCP (southwest) Devender Arya said that investigation is being carried out.

As the bus crossed AIIMS, the woman noticed that Pandey had unzipped his trousers and was touching himself. Despite the woman protesting to this, the accused started masturbating in the bus, following which the woman raised an alarm. She asked the driver to stop the bus and cried for help from other passengers.

Witnessing the commotion, Pandey tried to run away from the bus even as the woman tried to catch hold of him. He pushed her aside and other passengers who tried to pin him. As the bus slowed down near Dhaula Kuan bus stand, the accused jumped off the moving vehicle.

However, a police constable saw the commotion and nabbed Pandey. The woman made a PCR call and staff from Delhi Cantonment poli- ce station reached the spot and arrested the man for molestation.

Investigating officers said that the woman’s statement has been recorded and the accused is being probed. Teams have taken his blood sample to ascertain if he was under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicant. He told cops that he lives in east Delhi’s Ghazipur and works as a painter there. He boarded the bus from Anand Vihar bus terminal. The route goes through areas like South Extension, AIIMS, South Campus, and Mahipalpur before ending at Kapashera Border.

The cops are also questioning other passengers of the bus to obtain the exact sequence of events and are also checking if there was any marshal present in the bus at the time of the incident.
