Pay toll to use KMP e-way from Dec 15
Gurgaon: Come December 15, motorists will have to pay to drive on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. The newly inaugurated expressway will have a closed tolling system — meaning commuters will have to pay only for the distance they will travel along the thoroughfare crossing Gurgaon.
Motorists will be issued a ticket when they enter the expressway through any of the 10 entry-exit points along the 135.6km-long stretch between Palwal and Kundli. They will have to produce the ticket at the exit point and pay toll for the distance travelled on the expressway. A commuter will be issued a ticket when it enters the expressway through any of the 10 entry-exit points along the 135.6km-long stretch between Palwal and Kundli. He will have to produce the ticket while leaving the expressway and pay toll as per the distance covered on the expressway.
A private company has been roped in for setting up necessary infrastructure — boom barriers and booths — and collecting toll at every entry-exit point as per the rates fixed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
Cars will be charged at Rs 1.35/km, light motor vehicles Rs 2.18/km, while trucks and buses will be taxed at Rs 4.98/km. Therefore, a car drive between Kundli and Manesar will cost around Rs 116. Similarly, one driving a light motor vehicle will have to pay Rs 187 for the same distance.
“The toll collection will start next Saturday. All booths and barriers will in place by then,” said an HSIIDC official. Two-wheelers are not allowed on the expressway, and a biker won’t get any insurance or other benefits in case of an accident on the high-speed stretch.
