Three wanted criminals held after shootout in Najafgarh
New Delhi: A gang of wanted criminals was busted and three people were arrested after a brief shootout in Najafgarh on Friday night. One of the gangsters had come to his associate’s house when cops raided the place. To evade arrest, the accused opened fire at the cops, who retaliated with two rounds. No one was injured in the firing.
Police was tipped off about the gang, who were meeting to plot the killing of a close associ- ate of gangster Manjit Mahal.
DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said a team, led by ACP Somender Pal Tyagi, was formed to nab Nakul Sangwan, Tarun, Rohit Gehlawat. With their arrests, police claimed to have averted a possible gangwar.
Narrating the incident, police said on November 20, one of Manjit Mahal’s associates, Roshan, was killed. To investigate the case, a team led by inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO Najafgarh, was formed. Finally on Friday, cops received informa- tion that a wanted criminal Vikas alias PK was hiding in the house of Kapil Sangwan, Nakul’s cousin, along with his associates. On a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Sangwan’s house.
While the police surrounded the house, three gangsters, unaware of police presence, stepped out in an attempt to escape. When they saw the police, they opened fire, but no one was hurt. After a brief struggle, all the three accused were arrested. However, Vikas was nowhere to be found.
