Honey-trapped soldier spied for ISI, held
An Army jawan, arrested on charges of espionage after being honey-trapped, was paid for sharing strategic information to Pakistan ISI, police said on Sunday. He was arrested in Jaisalmer on Friday.
The jawan, identified as Sombir, from Haryana, joined the Army in 2016, Rajasthan police said.
A fake account in the name of Anika Chopra approached Sombir on social media seven months ago, the police said, adding she, identifying herself as an officer of Army Medical Corps in Jammu, befriended him. She then sought secret information from him. The social media account was originated from Karachi, the police said.
