Jaipur: The Congress-led Ra­jasthan gov­ern­ment has de­cided to hon­our those who adopt stray cows on In­de­pen­dence day and Repub­lic day. The Direc­torate of Gopalan has is­sued a let­ter to all dis­trict col­lec­tors ask­ing them to mo­ti­vate donors, NGOs, so­cial work­ers and cow lovers to adopt stray cows and fe­lic­i­tate them on Au­gust 15 and Jan­uary 26.

The Direc­torate of Gopalan of the state gov­ern­ment works for cat­tle con­ser­va­tion, re­search and de­vel­op­ment. Deputy CM Sachin Pi­lot on Mon­day said the pre­vi­ous BJP gov­ern­ment in the state had tried to cre­ate “ha­tred” on such is­sues.

“The idea is to con­serve cows with co­op­er­a­tion from peo­ple. Those who adopt stray cows and un­der­take wel­fare ac­tiv­i­ties will be fe­lic­i­tated by dis­trict col­lec­tors,” Vishram Meena, di­rec­tor, Gopalan direc­torate, said. Ateam

Speak­ing with home guard Shailen­dra Ku­mar said, “A vil­lager said his cow had fallen into a nul­lah. Home guard Ji­ten­dar Ku­mar brought a rope, while head con­sta­ble Deshraj Singh de­scended into the nul­lah to pre­vent the cow from drown­ing.”
