Hizbul Mu­jahideen ter­ror­ists were killed in an anti-in­sur­gency op­er­a­tion in Devsar area of south Kash­mir’s Kul­gam dis­trict on Sun­day, said po­lice. In an­other at­tack in Sri­na­gar’s Lal Chowk area, 11peo­ple — in­clud­ing a CRPF sub-in­spec­tor, six se­cu­rity per­son­nel and four civil­ians — were in­jured when ter­ror­ists lobbed a grenade at a po­lice party on Sun­day. A joint team of per­son­nel from the Army, Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Group and CRPF had launched a cor­don and search op­er­a­tion in Kel­lam, when holed-up ter­ror­ists opened fire at them. In the en­su­ing gun­bat­tle, three ter­ror­ists were killed while two oth­ers took refuge in nearby houses. The duo at­tacked se­cu­rity forces and were also killed later in the en­counter, Kul­gam SSP Harmeet Singh Me­hta said.
