Cardiff City skipper Bamba dedicates win, goal to Sala
London: Cardiff City captain Sol Bamba dedicated his goal and a 2-1 victory over Southampton to Emiliano Sala after an emotional match for the Welsh club. “A lot of things were going through my mind. I knew Emiliano. I know he was looking up there. The victory and the goal is for him,” said Bamba.
Southampton vow to ban fans over Sala ‘aeroplane’ mockery:
Southampton have promised to ban supporters involved in mocking the death of Emiliano Sala by making aeroplane gestures during their match at home to Cardiff City. After the game video on social media appeared to show two men in the home section of St Mary’s Stadium seemingly making aeroplane gestures in the direction of the away supporters.
Solari thrilled with Madrid derby victory over Atletico:
Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari was thrilled by his team’s 3-1 derby victory over Atletico Madrid, as the European champions forced their way back into the La Liga title race.“It was a team performance, strong in every aspect, probably our best game since December,” Solari told reporters. “The key was the players as it always is, we’re all part of the team.”
US football coach Clavijo dead at 63:
Fernando Clavijo, a US 1994 World Cup defender who became a top coach, has died at age 63 after a battle with cancer. Uruguayan-born Clavijo died at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after a fiveyear fight with multiple myeloma — cancer of plasma cells (white blood cells). A career that spanned more than 45 years as a player, coach and technical director led to Clavijo being inducted into the US soccer hall of fame in 2005.
