London: Cardiff City cap­tain Sol Bamba ded­i­cated his goal and a 2-1 vic­tory over Southamp­ton to Emil­iano Sala af­ter an emo­tional match for the Welsh club. “A lot of things were go­ing through my mind. I knew Emil­iano. I know he was look­ing up there. The vic­tory and the goal is for him,” said Bamba.

Southamp­ton vow to ban fans over Sala ‘aero­plane’ mock­ery:

Southamp­ton have promised to ban sup­port­ers in­volved in mock­ing the death of Emil­iano Sala by mak­ing aero­plane ges­tures dur­ing their match at home to Cardiff City. Af­ter the game video on so­cial me­dia ap­peared to show two men in the home sec­tion of St Mary’s Sta­dium seem­ingly mak­ing aero­plane ges­tures in the di­rec­tion of the away sup­port­ers.

So­lari thrilled with Madrid derby vic­tory over Atletico:

US foot­ball coach Clav­ijo dead at 63:

Fer­nando Clav­ijo, a US 1994 World Cup de­fender who be­came a top coach, has died at age 63 af­ter a bat­tle with cancer. Uruguayan-born Clav­ijo died at his home in Fort Laud­erdale, Florida, af­ter a fiveyear fight with mul­ti­ple myeloma — cancer of plasma cells (white blood cells). A career that spanned more than 45 years as a player, coach and tech­ni­cal di­rec­tor led to Clav­ijo be­ing in­ducted into the US soc­cer hall of fame in 2005.
