Bianca Andreescu takes the first 30 minutes of her day to be with herself. She shuts her eyes and looks at what she wants and where she aims to be. She learnt it from her glamorous mother Maria.

“I started meditating and visualizing since I was 12 or 13, my mom introduced it to me,” the Canadian world No. 15 said. “It wasn’t such a big thing back then, but it’s getting more popular. If you can control your mind, then you can control a lot of things.”

The 19-year-old’s mother and father Nicu, both of whom held corporate jobs, were at courtside with her puppy at the US Open. “My mom’s honestly the coolest person I know,” Andreescu said.
