Day after raid on thana, 2 arrested, several detained
Jaipur/Alwar: A day after a Haryanabased gang raided Behror police station in Alwar and fled with their leader Vikram Singh alias Papla, Bhiwadi police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two accused and detained several others for their alleged involvement in the crime.
DGP Bhupendra Singh said the two arrested were being quizzed and a senior ASP of the Special Operations Group has been appointed as the investigation officer (IO) in the case.
The gang, which was armed with two AK-47 rifles and automatic pistols, rained bullets as they freed Vikram from the police custody in a daredevil raid on Friday. Earlier on Saturday, Singh held a meeting with senior officers of Haryana police even as gangster Vikram remained traceless.
Additional DGP (Crime) BL Soni told TOIthat 15 shooters had stormed the police station. Barring five, all have been identified and their native addresses tracked down. “We have gathered vital information about the remaining five and zeroed in on people who can identify them,” he said.
