Woman gang-raped by four in front of husband in UP
Bijnor: In a chilling reminder of the 2016 Bulandshahr gangrape, a couple returning home on an e-rickshaw was waylaid by armed assailants who dragged the 25-year-old woman in a nearby field and gangraped her in front of her husband. The crime was committed in UP’s Amroha on Saturday. The survivor told the police that the assailants also shot at her husband when he tried to resist them. Based on their complaint, an FIR has been registered and police are combing the area in search of suspects.
According to the survivor, they were on their way back to Amroha’s Kuakhera village from Bijnor’s Chandpur where they had gone to see a doctor. “My husband and I were returning from Chandpur on Saturday evening in an e-rickshaw. When we reached close to Kuakheto a nearby field and gangraped me at gunpoint. When my husband resisted, they shot him in the arm and stabbed him too. When we shouted for help, some passersby and villagers rushed to the scene. Sensing the situation, the accused fled. Later, we informed the cops,” she added.
Amroha SP Vipin Tada said, “We have registered a case against accused based on the woman’s complaint and detained two. They are being questioned. The woman has been sent for medical examination. No bullet injury was found on her husband’s arm as claimed. We are probing the case.”
