Peru shock Brazil 1-0 on Abram’s header
Luis Abram scored his first international goal on a header in the 85th minute, and Peru ended Brazil’s 17-game unbeaten streak since last year’s World Cup with a 1-0 victory Tuesday night. Peru shockingly pulled out only its second win over Brazil in 21 matches after Abram slipped into the box and nodded home Yoshimar Yotun’s free kick. Abram is a 23-year-old defender who plays professionally in Argentina for mid-table Velez Sarsfield, but he managed to outscore a star-studded Brazilian lineup.

Now known as Ai Kesen, the striker scored two late goals after the visitors were already 3-0 up as coach Marcello Lippi’s team got off to a winning start in Group A.
Neymar rape accuser in the dock
Police in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo said on Tuesday they had indicted the woman who accused soccer star Neymar of rape, charging her with fraud, extortion and slander, in what could be a major relief for the Paris Saint Germain striker. The former Brazil captain was accused of raping Najila Trindade in a Paris hotel room in May, but he alleged the encounter was consensual and prosecutors said in August they were dropping the case against him due to a lack of evidence.

Arsenal hold talks over gang threat
London: Talks have taken place at Arsenal about the threat posed by gangs targeting footballers after Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac had to fight off knifewielding men, according to academy head Per Mertesacker. In an apparent attempted carjacking caught on camera in July, Kolasinac jumped out of a vehicle to confront masked aggressors, who had pulled alongside the vehicle on mopeds. A separate incident led to two men being charged with a public order offense outside Ozil’s house in north London.
