1 more Amity student dies in e-way crash
Greater Noida: A day after a car on Yamuna Expressway hit a divider, flipped over to the other side and crashed into a moving bus — killing two Amity University students, another person died in the hospital late on Friday.
While two students — Owais Chaudhary and Shivani Yadav — died on the spot, Sai Sharma succumbed to his injuries at Yatharth hospital on Friday. Sharma was sitting in the back seat of the Hyundai i20 car with two others when the accident took place.
The two students – Aditi Saxena from Noida’s Sector 53 and Shaurya Gupta from Shakarpur in Delhi – who were sitting in the front seats, were admitted to AIIMS, both with major neck injuries.
Ajay Gupta, Shaurya’s father, told TOI , “We have admitted him to AIIMS. The doctors are saying that he is still critical and needs to be in the ICU.” He added that the family had no idea that Shaurya had gone for a trip. “His internal exams were on and he had left home for college at 7am,” he said.
Milind Kukreja, Aditi’s uncle, said she is stable but in trauma. “We have moved her to a local hospital near our house in Noida. She is recovering from a major injury in the neck but is out of danger,” said Kukreja.
Amity University officials said all students are from different batches. While Shaurya and Aditi are pursuing BSc (chemistry), Sai Sharma was in BSc (forensic science). Shivani was in the first year of Bachelor in Fine Arts and Owais Choudhary studied BTech (computer science).
Police said the students had rented the car on Friday afternoon to go for a drive to Agra and the accident occurred on their way back. Police have received no complaint in the incident so far.
