By ’24, trains ‘on de­mand’ likely on busy routes

New Delhi: By 2024, rail­ways will be able to run pas­sen­ger trains “on de­mand” on Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mum­bai routes as 90% of the freight trains will shift out from these cor­ri­dors soon after the two ded­i­cated freight cor­ri­dors be­come op­er­a­tional in the next two years.

Rail­way board chair­man V K Ya­dav said on Tues­day that cur­rently there is hardly any scope for in­tro­duc­ing more trains on these two net­works de­spite huge de­mand. He added the re­duc­tion in traf­fic on Delhi
