Notional language

Amit Shah has an excellent idea that we should make Hindi the rashtriya bhasha

The Times of India (New Delhi edition) - - An Ecstasy Of Ideas - Jug Suraiya

Two members of the Hindi Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), all charged up and excited about home minister Amit Shah’s statement that Hindi should be made the national language to help unify the country and free it from the influence of foreign languages.

1st HSS: Amitji ne 100% right bola ji humko Hindi ko rashtriya bhasha adopt karna chahiye.

2nd HSS: Of koss, yeh karna must hai. After all, yaani sab se peechhe, hum all Hindi speak karte hain, no?

1st HSS: No, kya? Yes bolo! Hum sab Hindi know karte hain so yeh sab foreign languages bolne ka kya use hai?

2nd HSS: Humari country mein bahut foreign languages hain. Whole world mein aur koi country nahin hai where itnay foreign languages hain. Languages jaise Gujarati, aur Tamil, aur Telugu, aur Bengali, aur Marathi, aur Punjabi, aur Odia, aur …

1st HSS: Oof, oh! Enough karo! Humko yeh sab foreign languages koh hear nahin karna hai.

2nd HSS: OK, OK. Toh now on se hum only shudh Hindi speak karenge, agree?

1st HSS: Ek dum agree. Sab languages se Hindi most fine hai, ismay koi bhi doubt aur argument nahin hai.

2nd HSS: Aur jab pura country humare like Hindi speak karegi toh hum sab each other koh accha understand karenge aur kuch confusion nahin hoga, aur hum sab same page on honge.

1st HSS: Same page on hona democracy ke liye most important hai. Nahin toh bahut ugrum-bugrum cheez like dissent, aur debate, aur yeh sab nonsense-baazi ho jati hai.

2nd HSS: Bilkul truth bola. Democracy meh debate-shebate aur dissent-vissent keh liye koi bhi space nahin hai. So Amitji ko aur ek suggestion karna chahiye.

1st HSS: Kya suggestion?

2nd HSS: Suggestion ki Hindustan ka naam official deed poll se change ho jaye aur banjaye Hindistan …

1st HSS: Hindistan zindabad!
