Fake passport racket busted, 8 held
New Delhi: A gang of crooks, who were running a racket of making fake passports and offering visa for US and Canada, has been busted by the Crime Branch on Tuesday. Police have seized 43 passports. It was found that the accused were operating from different parts of the city to avoid detection.
Eight members of the gang, including agents and middlemen, have been arrested during several raids, DCP (crime) Rajesh Deo said.
Police officers said that the gang would target young job aspirants from Nepal and lure them for a job in Canada for which they would ask for an initial instalment. Later, they would call the victims to Delhi. Cops received a complaint from the Embassy of Nepal alleging that that three Nepalese nationals had been cheated of Rs 15 lakh.
