Transport unions’ stir paralyses city
Thousands of passengers were stranded for hours on Thursday as transport unions in Delhi-NCR went on a strike demanding rollback of hefty fines prescribed under the amended MV Act.
Few app-based cabs were available and a small number of autos plying on the roads refused to travel long distances. At New Delhi and Anand Vihar stations, passengers had to wait for hours for conveyance. Around 80% of commercial vehicles that usually ply in Delhi were off the roads. P3
