Trans­port unions’ stir paralyses city

Thou­sands of pas­sen­gers were stranded for hours on Thurs­day as trans­port unions in Delhi-NCR went on a strike de­mand­ing roll­back of hefty fines pre­scribed un­der the amended MV Act.

Few app-based cabs were avail­able and a small num­ber of au­tos ply­ing on the roads re­fused to travel long dis­tances. At New Delhi and Anand Vi­har sta­tions, pas­sen­gers had to wait for hours for con­veyance. Around 80% of com­mer­cial ve­hi­cles that usu­ally ply in Delhi were off the roads. P3
