‘Balakot-reboot claim bid to shift focus from J&K’
Islamabad: Islamabad rejected on Tuesday Army chief General Bipin Rawat’s claim that the Balakot terror camp has been reactivated. Balakot, in Pakistan’s northwest, is the town where IAF struck at terror facilities in February.
Pakistan termed Rawat’s statement and “Indian allegations of ‘infiltration’” an attempt to divert global attention from the “humanitarian nightmare” in Kashmir, said Dr Muhammad Faisal, a spokesman for the Pakistani external affairs ministry.
Pakistan’s army too reacted, saying that Rawat’s accusations were a pretext for a false flag operation which, “if tried, shall have serious consequences for peace”.
