3 kids killed in Raj vil­lage af­ter school wall col­lapses on them

Udaipur: Three stu­dents, aged six to15, died af­ter a wall of a govern­ment up­per pri­mary school in Udaipur’s Thobawada vil­lage col­lapsed on them on Sun­day.

The trio was go­ing to school when the wall col­lapsed. The stu­dents, who were pass­ing by the spot, were trapped un­der the rub­ble. By the time eye­wit­nesses rushed to the res­cue, the chil­dren were buried un­der the de­bris and couldn’t be saved.

Sub­merged roads lead­ing to the vil­lage also de­layed the ar­rival of po­lice and, in turn, the res­cue op­er­a­tion. By the time the op­er­a­tion got un­der way, sev­eral vil­lagers had gath­ered at the spot. Lo­cals along with teach­ers al­leged that the con­trac­tor had used in­fe­rior qual­ity con­struc­tion ma­te­ri­als which led to the col­lapse.

“The bod­ies were handed over to their fam­i­lies af­ter au­topsy,” Kher­wara SHO Bhan­war­lal said.
