Now, conflict notice sent to Kapil-led CAC
BCCI ethics officer DK Jain on Saturday sent a notice to the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Kapil Dev, Shantha Rangaswamy and Anshuman Gaekwad, asking the former cricketers who picked the current India coach to respond by October 10 to the conflict of interest allegations levelled against them. MPCA life member Sanjiv Gupta had filed the complaint against the trio who picked Ravi Shastri as the head coach in August. In the complaint, Gupta has claimed that the CAC members don multiple cricketing roles.
U-23 player injured in nets:
In a freak accident during the training session of the Karnataka U-23 team at the KSCA ‘B’ ground on Saturday, spinner Punith S took a bad hit on the forehead and had to be rushed to the hospital. The incident occurred when Punith was waiting for his turn to bowl at the nets when a batsman’s shot hit Punith on the forehead. The 21-year-old, who was the best U-23 bowler last season, fell to the ground immediately. He limped out of the ground and was made to sit while an ambulance was called. It was then that the left-arm tweaker suffered a concussion and lost consciousness. He was taken to the hospital in a semiconscious state. By late Saturday night, Punith had regained consciousness and was able to speak.
2nd Pak-Lanka ODI rescheduled to Sept 30 because of heavy rains:
The second One-Day International between Pakistan and Sri Lanka to be held at the National Stadium here has been rescheduled to September 30 due to heavy rains. After the opening ODI between the two sides was washed out without a ball being bowled, organisers have decided to postpone the second match, scheduled for Sunday, with rains showing no signs of abating.
