BBC re­verses or­der over PIO an­chor’s Trump com­ment

Lon­don: Amid mount­ing pres­sure from me­dia per­son­al­i­ties, BBC re­versed a rul­ing which had par­tially up­held a com­plaint against its pre­sen­ter, Naga Munchetty, af­ter she crit­i­cised com­ments made by Pres­i­dent Trump as racist on air. In­di­ano­ri­gin Munchetty had also at­tracted an on­line pe­ti­tion which called on BBC to re­view its de­ci­sion that con­cluded she broke im­par­tial­ity guide­lines. “I don’t think Naga’s words were suf­fi­cient to merit a par­tial up­hold of the com­plaint,” said BBC direc­tor-gen­eral Lord Tony Hall.
