Teenaged girls among 6 held for honey-trap plot
New Delhi: Five girls, aged between 18 and 20 years, have been apprehended for allegedly trying to honey-trap a 30year-old man after befriending him on Facebook. A youth (23) has also been caught for trying to extort the victim by posing as a policeman.
The victim told police that one of the girls had sent him a message saying she had shared his phone number with a friend as she wanted to interact with him. After a few minutes, he had got a call from the second girl, who chatted with him for hours. They then decided to meet at a park in northeast Delhi’s Shahdara on Wednesday.
After reaching the spot near Mansarovar Park, the girl told the man that they

should go to a nearby house as she would be in trouble if her parents saw her with him.
As soon as they entered the house, the girl locked him in a room. Soon the five girls, some of whom are school droupouts, barged into the room and threatened to tell police that he had sexually assaulted a minor if he didn’t pay them Rs 50,000. They then snatched his belongings. Soon the youth also joined them and tried to scare the victim by posing as a cop.
As the man was not carrying Rs 50,000, he offered to call a friend to arrange the amount. But soon the gang started dragging the man outside, claiming he was being taken to a police station. As the man resisted, a scuffle ensued.
In the meantime, passersby had gathered near the house and one of them informed the cops. All of them were taken to a nearby police station where they revealed their identities.
The girls and the youth have admitted that they had tried to extort the man, a police source said.
An extortion case has been registered based on the victim’s statement and the cops are questioning the accused about kidnapping and robbing the man. Police are also verifying the girls’ ages.
