PIO tech CEO abducted from California home, found dead
Washington: A tech executive of Indian origin was found dead in a car hours after being abducted from his plush residence on the Pacific Ocean front in California early on Tuesday.
Tushar Atre (50), CEO of digital marketing firm AtreNet Inc, was taken from his house at 3 am, bundled into a white BMW belonging to a woman friend — believed to be his girlfriend, Rachael Edith Emerlye — and driven away, according to the Santa Cruz police who responded to a 911call from the property.
There were several other people in Atre’s house when multiple suspects broke in and whisked him away, according to media reports.
Police immediately put out a lookout notice but announced a few hours later that a car and a body, identified as Atre’s, was found 14 miles away, which is about an hour south of Silicon Valley.
Police did not cite the cause or mode of Atre’s death, nor the identity of suspects and their relationship with him. But authorities “have reason to believe the motive was robbery,” according to the Sheriff ’s Office’s Facebook post.
