HC dis­poses of law of­fi­cer plea

New Delhi: Delhi high court has dis­posed of a pe­ti­tion seek­ing ap­point­ment of law of­fi­cers in ev­ery jail in Delhi af­ter the AAP gov­ern­ment sub­mit­ted that the process for cre­ation of such a post is un­der progress.

A divi­sion bench of Chief Jus­tice DN Pa­tel and Jus­tice C Har­is­hankar re­cently ob­served, “We di­rect the re­spon­dent to com­plete the process for ap­point­ing law of­fi­cers for each jail in Delhi, as ex­pe­di­tiously as pos­si­ble and prefer­ably within 12 weeks from the or­der of this court,” while dis­pos­ing of a plea by ad­vo­cate Amit Sahni.

Sahni moved court to en­sure com­pli­ance of Sec­tion 6 of Delhi Prison Act, 2000.
