Navlakha never espoused violence, says his counsel

The Times of India (New Delhi edition) - - Times Nation -

The Bombay HC granted Navlakha interim protection for three weeks to approach the SC. Agreeing to hear his plea, a bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta extended his interim protection which was expiring on Friday.

“Certain material which was produced before HC, in a sealed cover, is not available today. The learned counsel appearing for Maharashtra has prayed for time to produce the material. List the petition for further hearing on October 15. In the meantime, interim protection granted by the HC shall continue,” the bench said.

Challenging the action of Maharashtra Police to initiate criminal prosecution, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi contended that Navlakha never espoused violence and he had spoken and written extensively against such actions and also rejected allegations that he is linked to Maoists working towards overthrowing the government.
