Before SC order, VHP begins ‘trishul diksha’
Lucknow: As Supreme Court conducts day-to-day hearings in the Ayodhya case, Vishwa Hindu Parishad is quietly inducting a fresh batch of trident-armed cadre under its ‘trishul diksha’ programme in various parts of Uttar Pradesh. VHP plans to complete the recruitment before the apex court delivers its verdict.
Confirming the development, VHP organisational secretary Bholendra said the recruitment is being conducted through ‘Shakti Kendras’, where youths are being imparted training in the use of tridents. Five ‘Shakti Kendras’ have been set up across the state and each batch which is being trained at such units comprises 100 to 200 youths.
“The purpose of the programme is to create a feisty cadre and remind Hindus about the importance of ‘shaastra’ (religious text) and ‘shastra’ (arms). They should not forget the Hindu samaj has its roots in both,” he told TOI. He confirmed that the induction would be completed before SC delivers its verdict.
