Now, Shinde’s daughter faces an NCP rival
Kolhapur: Serious differences between Congress and NCP have cropped up in Solapur district with the latter fielding Juber Bagwan against the grand old party’s Praniti Shinde from Solapur city central constituency.
Solapur NCP working president Santosh Pawar said Bagwan has been given ticket due to pressure from workers and demand from Muslim organisations. The unexpected move has shocked Congress workers as Praniti’s father Sushilkumar Shinde and NCP chief Sharad Pawar are close friends.
Activists of both the parties see the NCP decision as a pressure tactic. NCP sources said Congress has fielded Shivajirao Kalunge from Pandharpur seat even though it was allotted to NCP. They said Bagwan might withdraw if Congress candidate from Pandharpur backs out. Meanwhile, Maan constituency is all set to see a contest between two brothers – Jaykumar Gore (BJP) and Shekhar Gore (Independent).
