Ranchi: A 31-year-old man from Hazaribagh died on Saturday a few hours after he was allegedly beaten up by a mob near the Koderma railway station in Jharkhand on suspicion of being a child-lifter. Three railway employees have been booked in the case.

As the news of Sunil Yadav’s death reached Hazaribagh, residents blocked the Ranchi-Patna national highway on Sunday and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits, compensation for his family and a job for his kin. The blockade was lifted after the cops gave an assistance of Rs 5,000 to Yadav’s family and assured the protesters that their demands would be forwarded.

Police, however, claimed that Yadav had gone to the station on Friday night to carry out a theft. But his family members said he had missed a train to Hazaribagh and was waiting at the station that night. Yadav succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon.
